ARRIVED

After a long long long ride, we have safely made our landing at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  Moses was waiting for us at the airport with a huge smile on his face.  He immediately called his family and we could hear them yelling and clapping.  That was a good feeling.  Moses had made arrangements for us at a hotel, the same one we stayed last year.  Eddie has to endure my fingernails digging into his arm as we ride from the airport to the hotel.  Not only do the taxi drivers drive on the wrong side of the road, they drive like maniacs!  These roads are about as wide as one vehicle anyway, and these people drive like they are on I10, weaving back and forth between other cars, slamming on brakes just before running over a bicycle.  Strange thing is, you never see an accident.  Maybe we need them to teach the people that drive on Highway 19 Tanzanian driving skills.  Anyway, we were happy to see a bed, a toilet & a shower!!!!  It wasn't difficult to fall alseep, and we both slept soundly until about 8:30 am, which meant that we actually got about 8 hours sleep.  Moses will be here about noon to pick us up.  We are going to meet with him for a little while, and then we will drive around this city.   I love watching the people here.  It is absolutely amazing how they walk around with enourmous things on top of their head!  I need to learn to do this, it surely helps with the posture, which is something that I could use improvement in.  A boy just rode by with a load of coconuts hanging on the back of his bicycle!  And there's a little boy walking around selling what looks like a plate of cooked crawfish.  Yummy!  We're going now to try to find a cup of coffee.  We pray that you are well, happy & full of joy.  We will be thinking of you and pray for you daily.  Will send pictures soon. Eddie and Janice
